Description

Historic Fifth Avenue church

The St. Thomas Church on New York's Fifth Avenue is an Episcopal post in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The church is known for its sermons and choir selections. The building, however, is known for its architectural prowess. Founded in 1823, the church is an established New York place of worship.

The current St. Thomas Church building is the fourth in the church's long New York history. Designed by architectural firm Cram, Godhue and Ferguson, this latest rendition was completed in 1913, created in the French High Gothic style. The stonework, small windows and arches are of particular interest, as is the church's altar and reredos.
