Description

The Rubin Museum of Art is the pioneering establishment in the West to focus solely on the art of the Himalayas and neighboring areas. Its remarkable collection comprises of artwork dating back 1500 years to the present day, with items such as Chinese embroidered textiles, Nepalese gilt-copper bodhisattvas, Pakistani stone sculptures, Bhutanese paintings, and various Tibetan ritual objects and dance masks. Interesting exhibitions are often hosted by the museum, such as the "Victorious Ones" exhibition which featured sculptures and paintings of the 24 founding teachers of Jainism.
