This stunning, 1914 Carrère and Hastings mansion showcases a variety of Austrian and German art, such as works by Paul Klee, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Gustav Klimt, and Egon Schiele. Of special note is Klimt’s 1907 Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, located on the 2nd floor. Ronald Lauder, a cosmetics magnate, acquired the painting for an immense $135 million. The story of the painting's journey is told in the 2015 movie, Woman in Gold.
