Description
Constructed in 1765 as a countryside retreat for Roger and Mary Morris, the oldest house in Manhattan—an elegant mansion with columns—has achieved fame for being seized by the Continental Army in 1776 and briefly occupying the role of George Washington’s headquarters. With its many original furnishings, including a bed believed to have belonged to Napoleon, this charming abode can be explored through hour-long guided tours offered on Saturdays at noon and Sundays at 2pm (tickets cost $12).
