Description
Constructed in 1832 and bought three years later by merchant Seabury Tredwell, this red-brick mansion remains the most genuine Federal house in the vicinity. Its elaborate 19th-century furnishings, including bronze gasoliers, marble mantelpieces, and various Duncan Phyfe-attributed parlor chairs, are a testament to the city’s mercantile past. Incredibly, even the multi-level call bells for the servants still operate today.
