Description
The Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, located in Washington DC, is the only United States museum dedicated to preserving both historic and modern design. The grandiose mansion, built by Andrew Carnegie in 1901, houses a collection of over 210,000 pieces, representing design artifacts from the past three millennia. Guests can explore three floors of the building, and take a stroll through the public gardens accessible from both the 90th Street entrance and within the museum itself. Free guided tours are available daily, at 11:30am and 1:30pm on weekdays, and 1pm and 3pm on weekends.
