Description
City Hall in New York City, a beautiful Federal-style building, has been home to government officials since 1812. Guided tours are available twice a week, but must be booked in advance online (search for 'city hall tours' on www.nyc.gov). Visitors can explore the elegant coffered rotunda, the City Council chamber, and the Governor’s Room, which features artwork by John Trumbull, George Washington’s writing desk and a flag flown at his 1789 inaugural ceremony.
