Numismatic museum and research insitute
The American Numismatic Society is both a museum and research institute, dedicated to the study of coins, currency, medals, primitive money and other objects, from all periods and cultures.
There are over 600,000 objects in the American Numismatic Society’s collection, organized in 11 departments, from Roman, Greek and Byzantine collections of the ancient world, to Modern and United States currency. In addition, the American Numismatic Society maintains two other research tools: the library of numismatic literature, DONUM; and the society's archives, ARCHER.
