Description

Cultural preservation of New York

The American Academy of Arts and Letters is an honor society of 250 architects, composers, artists, and writers. Members of the Academy are elected for life and pay no dues. As vacancies occur, the Academicians nominate and elect new members. Galleries and an auditorium are featured here.

The idea behind the American Academy of Arts and Letters is to foster and sustain a cultural interest in fine arts, literature and music, based on the interests of the individual artists themselves. The Academy offers awards and prizes, displays exhibits and supports other forms of funding.
