Description

Once the tallest building on Earth

One of the most interesting landmarks in New York City is 40 Wall Street - The Trump Building. Built in only 11 months back in 1929-30, the skyscraper was briefly the tallest building in the world. Today it is owned by billionaire Donald Trump, who completely renovated it to its former glory.

This 70-story skyscraper, originally known as the Bank of Manhattan Trust building, was the later home of Chase Manhattan Bank. As mentioned the 927 foot building was briefly the tallest in the world until surpassed by the Chrysler building and later the Empire State. The building fell into a state of disrepair at a point until bought by Trump at a reported cost of only $1 million. The long history of the tower includes everything from planes crashing into it on to its inclusion as a New York landmark a few years ago.
